codeboy knows himself
I learned to recognize the thorough and primitive duality of man; I saw that, of the two natures that contended in the field of my consciousness, even if I could rightly be said to be either, it was only because I was radically both.

Treat this as a
context-setter for the rest of the pages. I won't give
you my life story; we'll chat sometime if you're really
curious. I grew up in the typical suburban city of Bethesda, Maryland. It was not unlike all the other Washington, DC suburbs, except we seemed to be a little more popular among members of foreign embassies and the World Bank, so the resulting school population was quite diverse. So I did the high school thing, graduating in 1994 from Walt Whitman High School. I was a decent student, but not entirely enchanted with the high school life. I even got suspended once for running an underground newspaper. The funny thing is, I now run the alumni site, but I guess that benefits the former students more than the school administration. After that, I headed off to Carnegie Mellon University. I wasn't too keen on living in Pittsburgh, so after my freshman year, I decided to try to get out of there early. By taking lots of classes each semester, I was able to finish off in May 1997, after 3 years. I earned a B.S. in Information and Decision Systems, which is basically computer science as it applies to real-world business applications (instead of theoretical stuff, like figuring out how to beat Gary Kasparov at chess). After college, it was time to pick a place to work. I'm in the computer industry, and because of supply and demand, I really was able to choose where I worked. I settled on IntraACTIVE, a start-up company in downtown Washington, DC. I live in a 5 bedroom house in the Van Ness neighbourhood in D.C. with 4 friends of mine. It's a little up the road from Cleveland Park. Plenty of parking, but not as much action as my old place in Adams Morgan (for better or for worse). So that brings us to now... |
